The scheduled review of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement is expected to continue beyond the July 1 target date. Corn Refiners Association Vice President of Trade and Industry Affairs Christy Goodfellow says trade officials have already signaled negotiations with Mexico will continue after July 1. “What we have thought of as a deadline, I think the expectation is now that we will move past that,” said Goodfellow. National Fisheries Institute Executive Vice President Robert DeHaan was part of a media briefing by the Agricultural Coalition for USMCA and said it is hard to make decisions if you don’t know the rules of the game. “Regardless of the timing, the lack of knowing what the end state will be is really kryptonite for businesses trying to plan. I suspect it’s also kryptonite for growers trying to plan. If you don’t know what the tariff will look like, if you don’t know what the rules of the game are, that can impede investment.”
