Warm temperatures and abundant moisture are creating ideal conditions for weed growth across the region. BASF Technical Service Representative Ken Deibert says many growers skipped pre-emerge herbicide applications as crops were planted quickly this spring, increasing the importance of post-emerge management. “We already have waterhemp emerging,” Deibert said. “Get a good Group 15 residual out there to keep that waterhemp at bay because that’s a weed we’re going to battle season long.” Debert said residual herbicides should be included with early post-emerge applications to maintain season-long weed control and protect crop yield potential.
