In northeast North Dakota, farmers continue to deal with the aftermath of one of the most severe wind events in recent memory. St. Thomas farmer Brent Baldwin said some fields required replanting. “We ended up reseeding about 80 acres of beets total.” Baldwin described the mid-May windstorm as unlike anything he has experienced. “I’m not going to lie, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like that,” said Baldwin. “It was like blizzard conditions in some areas. I’ve seen high winds, but everything was blowing. There was nothing anyone was going to do about it.”
