North Dakota and Maryland will serve as pilot states for a new acreage reporting system designed to modernize FSA operations. USDA Deputy Administrator for Farm Programs Jared Hagert said the upgraded technology will improve efficiency for farmers and county FSA offices. “Being able to leverage the technology they’re utilizing on-farm to help streamline acreage reporting is going to be a huge win,” said Hagert. The modernization effort is designed to save time while still protecting producer data and maintaining local service through county offices. “Data security is paramount for us. That’s something that is top of mind morning, noon, and night, the producer’s data is the producer’s data.”
