North Dakota Farm Service Agency Executive Director Brad Thykeson said the USDA modernization effort is designed to improve efficiency. “North Dakota, as a state, is going to do our software program change in June,” explained Thykeson. “We’re going to be recording our acres differently, which would be a change from a 20-year old program.” The goal is for farmers to embrace this technology and actually self-certify their acres within a few years. “The technology and farm data systems should help reduce workload pressures on county offices while improving accuracy for producer.”
