President Donald Trump says the summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping resulted in “fantastic trade deals,” including major agricultural purchases. Speaking on Fox News, Trump said China plans to buy large amounts of U.S. soybeans and other farm products. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said an existing agreement already calls for China to purchase 25 million metric tons of soybeans annually over the next three years. Under that arrangement, soybean purchases are anticipated later this year, limiting the prospects for old-crop soybean sales.
