Legislative leaders reached a budget agreement that includes a bonding bill, property tax relief, and additional state funding priorities. However, House Agriculture Committee Co-Chair Paul Anderson said an agriculture bill is unlikely because of disagreements over paraquat restrictions. “There are DFLers who want to see that chemical banned in Minnesota. We don’t want that to happen because it’s already carefully regulated and used in some specialty cases.” Anderson specifically cited sugarbeet production as one of the affected sectors.
