Wilbur-Ellis Territory Account Manager Jack Schmitz says there are ways to be pro-active that can help protect yields. “We know there’s going to be stresses along the way this season, like stresses from weed control. We’re putting burned down herbicides, we’re doing tillage, we’re planning a residual program, because you know they’re going to happen. Just like we probably know there’s going be insects, disease, so we’re scouting each day throughout the season.” Schmitz says prevention is the best form of yield protection. “We need to be on the front side of trying to do everything we can do to raise as many bushels or pounds as possible. Once something affects that crop, yield loss or stress is really silent. We don’t actually see that until it exposes itself.”
