The South Dakota 2026 legislative session is in the books with much of the focus on property and sales taxes. According to South Dakota Corn Growers Association Executive Director DaNita Murray, questions remain for the bills that passed, like Senate Bill 96. “We look forward to how that bill is implemented, and I think there are still some gray areas about how applicability will be treated.” She said some bills that didn’t pass, like House Joint Resolution 5001, just need a bit more work. “We are appreciative that House Joint Resolution was defeated, and we certainly understand what motivates individuals to bring these issues forward, and we look forward to continued conversations about these issues.” This bill proposed a constitutional amendment restricting the use of eminent domain.
