It’s still looks like winter outside but with each passing day planting season draws nearer. DEKALB Asgrow Technical Agronomist Derek Pruitt says farmers should be ready for the opportunities when they come their way. “We just need to stick to the basics and be ready to plant for when field conditions are fit, and we’ve got to have the right soil moisture, but once you have the right conditions you just go.” Farmers in most parts of the Northern Plains should have a good soil moisture profile heading into the season. “Depending on the weather it could be pretty wet this spring, and we do want to be mindful of that, but that’s not always a bad thing. That means we have more moisture going into the year and we have a bit more cushion going into the spring.”
