Rather than renewing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, the Trump Administration is threatening negotiate separate trade deals with each country. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer appeared on Fox Business. “If there are areas where there is overlap, where it makes sense to align on things like rules of origin or external tariffs and trade policy, we will do that,” said Greer. “But, generally speaking, these negotiations are going to continue bilaterally and separately.” Greer said Mexico has been quite pragmatic and there have been a lot of discussions. “The Canadians are more challenging; they continue to have certain barriers.”
