One day after the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association convention ended, President Donald Trump signed an executive action allowing increased imports of Argentine beef. The executive order was titled ‘Ensuring Affordable Beef for the American Consumer.’ The order also allows the importation of an additional 20,000 metric tons of beef every quarter at a lower tariff rate until the end of this year. The Argentine Foreign Ministry described the agreement as “an unprecedented expansion for Argentine beef to its market by 100,000 tons. That represents an increase of $800 million in Argentine beef exports.
