The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture has established its top five policy priorities for 2026, focusing on agricultural labor reform, animal disease preparedness and traceability, the farm bill, pesticide regulations, and regional food systems. The organization says these areas are essential for supporting farmers, ranchers, and communities nationwide. NASDA leadership stressed that the priorities reflect what works on the ground, addressing farmers’ needs and giving state agriculture departments a chance to lead on practical solutions. The association also released background briefs highlighting the importance of a reliable workforce, strong animal health programs, sustainable farm policy, science-based pesticide regulation, and investments in regional food systems.
