North Dakota corn growers remain frustrated by stalled progress on renewable fuels policy. Speaking at the Northern Corn and Soybean Expo, North Dakota Corn Growers Association Past President Andrew Mauch said recent talks showed promise. “We really thought we were there here about two, three weeks ago. We had a good compromise and we felt like the refiners were on board.; we were on board.” Mauch said the small refinery exemptions remain one of the biggest hurdles. Last year’s big crop did not translate into profits for farmers. “Input costs and profitability are down in the tank.”
