2025 was a tough year for many North Dakota soybean farmers. North Dakota Soybean Growers President Justin Sherlock says while yields were hit or miss for many farms, the large carryover crop has put many farmers into a unique situation. “Harvest was really variable. Some of our members on the association side from around the state said they had some of their best soybean yields ever. But I think a lot of farmers had some pretty tough yields, too.” Sherlock says that Farmer Bridge Assistance payments will help during what has been a difficult stretch of years. “They’re important. They’re needed. They’re going to help people pay a few bills, but it still only covers a very small portion of the losses that most farmers experienced this last year. Thankfully, in North Dakota we’re blessed with the Bank of North Dakota and they’re helping restructure some of those working capital debts to try and help people stay in business a few more years.”
