At Chester, South Dakota, Keith Alverson says they’re still a couple of weeks away from harvest. “The corn looks to be well above average, the soybeans look good now that we’ve had some nice August rains.” Alverson says this could be a record corn crop for the area. “The truth will be told when the combines roll, but all indications so far are that it’s going to be well above average and possibly a record crop for the corn. Depending on the bean size, based on how we finish here, that’s really going to be what determines how good the beans are going to be.”
