Cory O’Leary operates Precision Seed and Service at Lake Park, Minnesota. The plot adjacent to his agency was planted in late April. The newly planted corn initially faced cold weather. Unusually warm temperatures and heavy rains were quick to follow. O’Leary said adequate rainfall was seen during much of the growing season, but it is now dry. “You can see the cracks in the ground here; we could use a shower to close things out.” That’s obvious for the soybeans in the sand pockets in the area. Soybeans are starting to drop leaves in some of the varieties. Precision Seed will host its annual field day/customer appreciation event on September 11. Watch the interview.
