On the RRFN Crop Tour, there have been areas that have had too much rain. Other areas could use some moisture. Twin Valley, Minnesota, may be the sweet spot, benefiting from timely rains throughout the season. Any disease pressure? “In the corn, not so much,” said Anikka Bakke, who is part of Select Ag at Mahnomen. “In soybeans, there’s been some aphid pressure, near threshold, but nothing overly concerning. White mold is starting to peak through in some of the soybeans, but everything is generally looking good.” Canola is moving south, including farmers growing it for the first time this season. “It’d be a great rotation crop for the area.” Bakke is a recent NDSU graduate, returning to her home area with Select Ag and join the next generation of agricultural professionals.
