The Red River Watershed Management Board has a new resource that highlights its involvement with agricultural land protection in Minnesota’s Red River Basin. Executive Director Rob Sip says the RRWMB has been at work for nearly 50 years. “Over that timeframe, the board has helped fund many farm ring dikes, also large-scale flood impoundments and even city flood protection,” Sip told RRFN. “We’ve been involved with habitat and water quality projects and then technical things like LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). What this document does is lay out all the work we’ve done to protect agricultural lands from flooding and to protect public and private infrastructure, including agricultural infrastructure.” The RRWMB will partner with the Red River Retention Authority for a display at the Big Iron Farm Show. This new document will be available at the show.
