The Red River Farm Network Crop Tour presented by Pioneer was in far northern Minnesota when it found a 74-day corn hybrid nearly at black layer. “I’m really happy with I’m seeing out in the field this year,” said Amy Brateng, South 80 Seed, Roseau. “The coolest story this year is the really nice GDU accumulation.” The plot RRFN visited was planted May 5th and had 1,660 GDUs as of Wednesday. “We’re less than 100 GDUs from the finish,” Brateng said with a big smile. The yield estimator app found 214 bushels per acre for this field. Information on soybean and canola was also part of the conversation. Check in on this interview online.
