Brock Mitchell operates two Pioneer seed agencies: Ag365 at Langdon and Lakeview Seed at Rock Lake, North Dakota. Most of the corn planted in this region is early 70-day maturities. Most of the corn was planted in early May before two weeks of rain occurred in mid-May. The soybeans struggled through June and early July. “We caught mid-July rain and it has been wet since,” said Mitchell. “The beans blew up; they’re podded up really good and look awesome.” There is limited white mold in the soybeans. There are canola fields swathed and other fields ready to be desiccated. There is optimism for canola, but there is some disease pressure. Watch the interview.
