Pioneer Field Agronomist Kristie Sundeen reports that crop conditions across much of North Dakota remain very good as the growing season nears maturity. Scouting fields from the Red River Valley to central North Dakota, she says both corn and soybeans are progressing well. “Pollination is mostly complete. We’re moving through the blister to milk stage, and some fields are starting to dent depending on the area, but overall corn looks good,” Sundeen said. Soybeans are filling nicely, though pockets of soybean aphids need monitoring. Wheat quality has been strong, prompting some farmers to begin harvesting early. “I’m down by New Rockford this morning and see a few combines rolling. Some fields are ready, while others to the north are still wet. But farmers are going ahead and taking wet wheat,” she said.
