Farmers from across the country gathered in Baltic, South Dakota for the annual Ag PhD Field Day. Hefty Seed Agronomist Zach Hefty said the event serves as both a showcase and a learning opportunity. “All the great guest speakers, all the amazing plots, and all this equipment, brand new equipment that looks so pretty today,” said Hefty. “It’s kind of nice to see the farmers rolling in, but it’s a big educational opportunity at the same time.” Hefty highlighted how drones are making precision spraying more accessible and crop-friendly. “Little spots in your field and the drone will fly those exact spots, spray it, and you don’t have to tear up your beans,” he said. “It’s just very easy with the drone.”
