The Arthur Companies is making major infrastructure investments across North Dakota in response to severe storms that wiped out a large amount of on-farm storage. Assistant General Manager Hank Brown says the company quickly took action after assessing the damage with farmers. “June storms were some of the worst we’ve seen in Arthur Company’s history,” said Brown. “Right after the fact, we started talking to all of our customers after the storms, and we found out that many of our customers lost a significant portion of their on-farm storage.” To prepare for a record corn crop this fall, Arthur Companies is expanding storage and drying capacity at multiple terminals. “At our Ayr terminal, we’re adding two new 1.3 million bushel bunkers,” said Brown. “We’re also replacing an older dryer with a 7,500 bushel-an-hour dryer, and at our Pillsbury terminal, we’re adding 2.5 million bushels of storage and an additional 10,000 bushels-an-hour dryer.” A separate 2-million-bushel expansion is already underway in Harvey, North Dakota.
