Planting progress is moving quickly in the Thompson, North Dakota area. Farmer Tim Schumacher says most of the region’s crops are nearly in. “Most of the corn should be in the next two, three days. Probably 75 percent of the soybeans will be in. I think all the sugar beets are in for the most part. Obviously, the wheat is probably done,” said Schumacher. “I think guys will maybe get a start on dry beans at the end of the week if we don’t have too much rain.” While high heat and wind haven’t caused too much damage yet, Schumacher says rain would be welcome. “It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, to be honest with you. There was some, but it wasn’t terrible,” he said. “But I think if we could get a half or three-quarter inch rain, I don’t think anybody would complain.”
