New Salem, North Dakota area farmer Jim Bahm says most of the crop is in, but conditions are dry. “Crops are pretty much getting in. The wheat’s up. Soybeans are in, corn’s in. We are exceptionally dry.” With little moisture to work with, Bahm says farmers are in a holding pattern. “We had .65 of rain once so far this spring. We didn’t really have anything in the soil coming in last fall. Some of the guys are looking at the weed herbicides right now. They’re just putting it on hold,” Bahm explained. “With this 90-degree weather that we’ve had for three days, they’re not sure what they’re going to spend on herbicides.”
