Other groups are saying tariffs damage an already weak farm economy. The American Soybean Association issued a news release saying farmers are frustrated about the tariffs and this decision damages the U.S. reputation as a reliable trading partner. The Agricultural Retailers Association and The Fertilizer Institute issued a joint statement, citing the 25 percent tariff on Canadian fertilizer. These farm input suppliers said the tariffs will drive up the cost of production for farmers, which will eventually lead to higher prices at the grocery store.
