Farmers will likely bear the burden of a tariff-based approach to trade. That conclusion came from research conducted by the National Corn Growers Association, American Soybean Association and North Dakota State University. The study found a negative impact on U.S. corn and soybean prices while South American farmers would benefit from higher exports. A trade war would also have a ripple effect on the rest of the U.S. economy.
