New Rockford, North Dakota farmer Jeff Schafer started combining pinto beans last week. “The first field there wasn’t, probably a little disappointing in the yield.” Schafer said the 6.5 inches of rain during the last two weeks of August were not good for any of his crops. Schafer is thankful for the warm September to get the corn crop to maturity.
