The Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer confirmed a declining farmer attitude in August. The levels are near those seen during late 2015 and early 2016 when “we were in the early stages of a multi-year downturn in U.S. agriculture.” Jim Mintert, director, Purdue University Center for Commercial Agriculture, said farmers were worried about the combination of low crop and livestock prices and high input costs.
