With the wet conditions, Huma Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Fred Nichols says crop nutrition becomes a bigger issue. “One of the watch-outs for all of that is the nutrient levels and how has the water impacted those; growers should be on guard that what they put down early in the spring might not be there.” Adding supplemental nitrogen will boost corn yields, but crop burn is a risk. Huma’s Super Nitro is a no-burn solution that can be tank-mixed with fungicides without extra application costs. “As you know, there is a big difference between salt-based and carbon-based products,” said Nichols. “We’re carbon-based so we’re not harmful to the crop and we have a very low-dose rate.” Its Micro Carbon Technology formulation is made from humic material and can be absorbed in the plant within one hour. The full interview with Nichols can be found on the Red River Farm Network website.
