Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow has been in Congress for 28 years. She has worked on six farm bills and has been the leader for three of them. “This is the hardest one ever,” said the Michigan lawmaker. “They’re always difficult, but at this stage, we’re usually beyond the politics of nutrition and food and we’re actually negotiating the farm bill. That hasn’t happened yet.” Stabenow sounded optimistic about passing the farm bill while addressing the Rural Communities in Action event at the White House.
