For the past 17 years, Bev Durgan has led the Extension program for the University of Minnesota. She took on the role when Extension was going through a reorganization. “There were a lot of people concerned about the future of Extension and whether Extension was still going to be able to serve the mission of the state and I thought it was a great opportunity for me to get Extension into the place where we should be. We should be serving the state. We need to be out there helping people solve some of these big problems.” In addition to her administrative role, Bev remains a weed scientist and teaches an undergraduate course. “I still love teaching that course, they don’t really care that I’m a dean.” Watch the complete interview.
