Many farm groups are hoping Congress will pass the new farm bill in the first half of 2024. “I’m not sure we’re going to get it done even by September by next year, but I’m more optimistic by the end of 2024,” said Todd Wilkinson, president, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. “Senator (Debbie) Stabenow retires at the end of ’24 and she wants a farm bill as part of her legacy; we can use that as a negotiating position to get this farm bill through.” Wilkinson is a South Dakota rancher and was featured at the Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association Convention.
