The East Coast grain milling firm, Ardent Mills, is apparently buying wheat from Europe. Up to seven cargoes of Polish and German wheat is being shipped to the U.S. at lower prices than if the product came from Kansas. It also costs less to ship European wheat to Tampa, Florida than domestic transportation prices. AgriCensus reports only one other wheat shipment from the European Union to the U.S. in the past ten years.
