South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is proposing legislation to restrict foreign purchases of farmland in the state. This plan creates a new state committee to investigate proposed purchases of agricultural land by foreign interests and recommend either approval or denial to the governor. Noem said South Dakota “will lead the charge on this vital national security issue.”
