The results from the Wheat Quality Council Hard Red Winter Wheat Tour estimate the Kansas wheat yield potential at 39.7 bushels per acre. The lowest projection since 2018 is due to the severe drought conditions. Kansas Wheat CEO Justin Gilpin expected to see the lower yield forecast. “With the wheat fields that have poor stand establishment, the question now becomes will it be harvested?” If the tour’s forecast is realized, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas combined production would be less than what the Kansas wheat crop produced last year.
