Farmers who have not enrolled or elected in the Agriculture Risk Coverage or Price Loss Coverage programs have until March 15 to make a decision. “Quite frankly, with prices rallying the way they have, neither program at FSA looks good for 2022,” said Rich Morrison, vice president of farm services, NAU Country Insurance. “One of the options that producers have is the SCO (Supplemental Coverage Option) through their crop insurance agent. A year ago, there wasn’t quite an advantage. Two years ago, there was no advantage, because prices weren’t here, but now with prices where they’re at, this is a program you need to take a look at.” February is the price discovery period for crop insurance. Morrison spoke at a series of Ihry Insurance meetings this past week.
