A new trade agreement, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, is now in place. This trade deal includes 15 countries, including China, Japan and Australia. This is the world’s largest regional trade agreement, topping the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement and the European Customs Union. The United States has not been part of a multinational trade agreement in the Asia-Pacific Region since dropping out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership in 2017.
