For the first time in history, three different canola futures contracts traded above $1,000 per ton Canadian on Wednesday. The nearby January, March and May canola contracts on the Intercontinental Exchange reached new highs. All of the vegetable oil markets are being influenced by weather conditions in Argentina and Brazil. Due to the holiday, trading volumes are lower than normal which can exaggerate price movements.
