With the high nitrogen costs, there may be opportunities to feed the crop pre-plant versus an in-season application. Pioneer Granular Area Digital Lead Anthony Lackore says nitrogen modeling tools are available to help growers make these decisions. “We have live information throughout the growing season that is updating us on additions and losses of nitrogen,” said Lackore. “We’re taking into account the weather, soil, yield goals and all these factors that we may not have thought about in the past to help us get to our final destination in the most efficient way possible.”
