Supplies of glyphosate and glufosinate are tight and many growers are being allocated a specific amount of product. Valent USA Herbicide Marketing Manager Joe Short says there are other options for weed control. “Having glyphosate and glufosinate has always been a comprehensive solution for growers and still are very important for weed management,” said Short. “Growers have been great about putting a pre residual on their soybean acres and this just amplifies that need because you’re going to need that to extend what you have as a post perspective.” Short doesn’t want supply chain shortages to influence the approach to resistance management. “Get that foundation set with a good residual up front and look at an overlapping residual in your post application to extend your control of Palmer and waterhemp through the end of the season.”
