There’s a new wrinkle in the ongoing supply chain story. The union contract for dockworkers on the West Coast expires in July of next year. These negotiations happen every six years and the last round resulted in labor disruptions and shipping delays. Due to the current supply chain logjam, the private companies that operate the ports wanted to extend the existing contract until 2023, but that offer was rejected by the union.
