As harvest moves quickly in the Northern Plains, farmers are thinking ahead to 2022. From an agronomic perspective, Pioneer Field Agronomist Sarah Lovas says soil sampling can go along way in getting ready for the next growing season. “In this last drought year, we saw nutrient deficiencies in areas where we previously haven’t seen them. I’m aware the soil samples that have been taken so far this year are coming back a bit higher than nitrogen levels than the past. Farmers should be soil sampling and really thinking about soil fertility programs to maximize your fertilizer dollars.” Lovas says there are also good seed options available right now. Hear more.
