Private forecasters are beginning to release planted acreage estimates ahead of the June report. U.S. Commodities President Don Roose says there is concern planted area will grow substantially. “One private forecaster is estimating 96.8 million acres, up six million and soybeans up more than one million.” Roose expects a lot of prevent plant acres to go into production this season. “Last year, we had 10.8 million acres in prevent plant and the government usually has us around four to five million. Acres could come up from other areas.”
