As March begins and spring planting gets closer, Ever.Ag President Mike North says acreage discussions are top-of-mind. “We got the USDA’s expectations at the Ag Outlook Forum. The combined corn and soybean acreage will be the highest on record if we achieve it. There’s plenty of incentive in the markets. Now, it will be a matter of weather, price and any other new thing that may influence things, including South American weather.” North thinks USDA’s estimate of 90 million acres of soybeans and 92 million acres of corn will be close to what U.S. farmers actually plant. North says farmers got a lot of fieldwork done in the fall and this should also help. “A great planting season would be helpful and weather will be a big player in the discussion.”
