The House Subcommittee on the COVID Crisis is investigating the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on meatpacking industry workers. In letters sent to JBS USA, OSHA, Smithfield Foods and Tyson Foods, the subcommittee said meatpacking companies refused to take basic precautions to protect workers and this has resulted in thousands of meatpacking workers getting infected with the virus, along with deaths. The subcommittee is seeking data from the companies including worker complaints, illnesses, deaths and more by February 15.
