The final American Farm Bureau Federation convention session featured keynote speaker and television host Mike Rowe. Rowe discussed the importance of skill-based jobs and technical careers. “Part of what I think is starting to happen now is that we’re realizing in our zeal to make a more persuasive case for higher education, we’ve created a problem around alternative education, two year degrees and community colleges. Those things fell out of favor. I’ve been going around saying we are lending money we don’t have to kids who can’t pay it back for jobs that don’t really exist anymore.”
