North Dakota farmers harvested 1.78 million acres of corn this past fall, down 43 percent from 2019. Corn yields averaged 139 bushels per acre, up eight bushels from last year. The harvested area for North Dakota soybeans was up six percent from the previous year, totaling 5.7 million acres. Soybeans averaged 33.5 bushels per acre, up two bushels from 2019. North Dakota canola tied a record high yield of 1,960 pounds per acre. Dry bean production was up 66 percent; oil sunflower production rose nearly 80 percent, sugarbeet production increased 23 percent and potato production was up 18 percent from 2019.
