Progress is being made on another COVID-19 relief package in Congress. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley thinks the legislation will pass December 18. “We have to pass funding legislation on December 11 or shutdown the government. The rumor around here, I think it’s more than that, we’ll be extending to December 18, but we’ll have an omnibus appropriations bill with coronavirus help in it and the Defense Authorization Act, three things that need to be done before we go home.” Grassley says the $908 billion package proposed last week may be what passes. “The details within each of those categories mean there’s just no certainty. That’s evidently why we can’t get it done this week and need to go to Friday, December 18.
